Colts lineman challenge

Players,

Here is the information for the Colts Lineman challenge. This is going to be a great day for HCS football on June 4! Fire Up! RQ

Indiana National Guard and Indianapolis Colts Ironman Lineman Challenge

- The Ironman Lineman Challenge will allow for the lineman of the prospective teams to participate in their own competition on the days of the 7-on-7 tournament.

PARTICIPANTS
5 or 6 players, only 4 participants per event

FORMAT
All of the events are shuttle based except for Hummvee Push and Sled Pull

SCORING
All events are scored on time. All the times from the events will be calculated to the get the overall time, from there, the lowest time overall wins.

EVENTS
- Hummvee Push
4 athletes will be used for this event. All together, athletes will push a truck down a 25 yard course as fast as possible. The scores will be determined by the team’s overall time. The event will begin with the front edge of the truck at the start of the course. When the athletes are ready, the driver will release the brake and honk the horn. The clock will start on the sound of the horn. Athletes will push the truck down the course. When the front edge of the truck has crossed the end of the course, the clock will stop. The athletes may begin pushing the Hummvee prior to the horn, if so, the time starts on movement.

- Tire Flip
4 athletes will be used for this event. There will be two participants on each side of the field. This event will consist of flipping a tire 20 yards. Each participant will start 3 yards back from the start line (holding line). When the whistle blows, the clock starts, they must run up to the tire, and begin moving it across the 20 yard competition area. They must get ANY part of the tire across the end line on the opposite end of the 20 yards. Once past the end line, they must slap hands with the next participant standing 3 yards behind the end line. The next participant will begin flipping the tire from the spot where it ended. The final athlete must flip the tire COMPLETELY past the end line, and then must run past the end line, time will end.
Penalties
If a player fails to flip any part of the tire across the end line, or simply pushes it across without flipping, before running to slap the next man’s hand, a 10 second penalty will be assessed at that time. The entire team must stand still for 10 seconds. Once the penalty is assessed, the team can begin the event again.
 If a player crosses the holding line before their hand is slapped by the previous participant, a 5 second penalty will be assessed at that time. The entire team must stand still for 5 seconds. Once the penalty is assessed, the team can begin the event again.

- Farmers Walk
4 athletes will be used for this event. There will be two participants on each side of the field. This event will consist of carrying two weighted bars 20 yards. Each bar weighs 185 lbs. Each participant will start 3 yards back from the start line (holding line). When the whistle blows, the clock starts; they must pick up the weighted bars and begin moving them across the 20 yard competition area. They must get the bars completely across the end line on the opposite end of the 20 yards. Once past the end line, they must slap hands with the next participant standing 3 yards behind the end line. The next participant has the option to move the bars up to the start line, or just begin carrying the bars from the spot where they ended. Once all four participants have completed the farmers walk, the final participant must run past the end line, which is when time will end.

Penalties
 If a player fails to get the bars across the end line before running to slap the next man’s hand, a 5 second penalty will be assessed at that time. The entire team must stand still for 5 seconds. Once the penalty is assessed, the team can begin the event again.

- Bale Run
o Very similar to the Farmers Walk, but with less weight, focusing on speed and control. 4 athletes will be used for this event. There will be two participants on each side of the field. This event will consist of carrying two bales of straw 40 yards (one bale per hand). Each bale weighs approximately 30 lbs. Each participant will start 3 yards back from the start line (holding line). When the whistle blows, the clock starts; they must pick up the bales of straw and begin moving them across the 40 yard competition area. They must get the bales completely across the end line on the opposite end of the 40 yards. Once past the end line, they must slap hands with the next participant standing 3 yards behind the end line. The next participant has the option to move the bales up to the start line, or just begin carrying the bales from the spot where they ended. Once all four participants have completed the straw run, the final participant must run past the end line, which is when time will end.

o Penalties
 If a player fails to get the bales across the end line before running to slap the next man’s hand, a 5 second penalty will be assessed at that time. The entire team must stand still for 5 seconds. Once the penalty is assessed, the team can begin the event again.
 If a player crosses the holding line before their hand is slapped by the previous participant, a 5 second penalty will be assessed at that time. The entire team must stand still for 5 seconds. Once the penalty is assessed, the team can begin the event again.

- Sled Pull
o 4 athletes will be used for this event. They will compete and be timed individually. The athletes will have to pull a sled holding 200 lbs. a distance of 20 yards. There will be a start line as well as a finish line. The athlete faces the sled, has a handle attached to the sled by 7 feet of rope and they back peddle or pull the sled in a backward motion with hips and shoulders facing the sled (they are looking at the sled as they pull it). The clock will begin on the athlete’s movement. The athlete must pull the sled across the 20-yard competition field and all the way across the finish line into the holding area. The clock stops when the entire sled crosses the finish line. The times will be added up to and that will be the team’s final time for the event.
