New and Improved Lifting Classes and PASS

We are at the start of a New Year and with that bring new commitments to living a healthier lifestyle. This also marks the beginning of our 2010 football season! Yes, it will be here before you know it! Coach Wright (who is also the Physical Education Department Head) has been spearheading some efforts to allow our athletes to have an improved experienced in their lifting/conditioning classes during the school day.
The result of that effort has allowed MANY football players to sign up for lifting classes. As a matte of fact, all but 6 football players (on this years roster) have signed up for a lifting/conditioning class of some type. This is the highest participation every experienced at HCS by the football team. Therefore we will not be having before/after school lifting until this summer which is the intent of having a quality program during the school day. This will allow players after school to focus on studies and their spring sports as well as increase their participation in the PASS program. The PASS program will now be offered from 3:30 - 4:30 on the following days in January and February in the auxiliary gym. According to Drew Riddick, the schedule for PASS is as follows:
January - 4-8-11-15-19-22-25-29
February - 1-5-8-12-16-19-22-26
Please look to the Athletic Website for changes to this schedule.
I am excited about the possibilities for our 2010 season and know that the upgrades to the lifting schedule by Coach Wright will be of tremendous benefit to our student athletes. I will be checking in on players during class time as well as during PASS. Please make sure to mark each PASS opportunity on your calendar and make a commitment to be there and make yourself a better athlete!
